Children and Youth
Pre-K
and Kindergarten
This class uses an
innovative curriculum entitled “God's Children Sing" which combines
music, story and action to engage even the youngest children in the Bible and
their faith. Children sing and play instruments, dance and talk about favorite
scripture stories.
1st-
3rd Grades
This class uses "Godly Play” as its curriculum.
Godly Play is a Montessori based, story telling technique that draws
children into a weekly Bible story or church lesson. The leader uses wooden
figures and simple but beautiful set pieces to tell stories, and children are
invited to re-tell the story during
the class. "Art response" gives the children an opportunity to
embrace the lesson. A small worship service at the end of the class ties the experience
together.
4th
– 6th GRADES AND
7th& 8th
Grades
The fourth through sixth and seventh
and eighth grade classrooms use "Living the Good News". This is a
lectionary-based curriculum written for these specific age groups. Through
activities, skits, artwork, and Bible study, the students engage the readings of
the day in creative and thought-provoking ways. High School students use
"Living the Good News" as a jumping off point for their own creative
activities and discussions, often using video and other media to explore the
ideas presented in class.
