Immanuel, located in a beautiful residential neighborhood, is an old and distinguished parish which has a strong commitment to Christian stewardship and service. The Rev. Sheila Sharpe - Deacon
Deacon Sheila was a member of the first class of (vocational) deacons ordained on December 5, 2009 in Delaware . She has a BA in music from the U of D, a MS in Pastoral Care/Spiritual Direction from Neumann University, and a Certificate in Theological Study from LTSP. Sheila will serve as deacon in our liturgies and the main thrust of her ministry will be outreach. She plans to work in programs sponsored by Friendship House with emphasis on programs at Epiphany House. She is married to Richard and they have three adult daughters and three grandchildren. In 2006, she became a Professed Member of the Anamchara Fellowship and her religious name is Sister Sheila Brigid. Her outside interests include singing, reading, and making Anglican Rosaries.
Phillip Stephens - Parish Administrator
Phillip is in the office from 8:30am to 1:30pm, Monday through Friday preparing Sunday bulletins, preparing and publishing the Parish weekly newsletter (the Highlands Voice), keeping the book, publishing financial reports, answering the phone as well as managing the property and other things that need to be attended to throughout each week. Phillip is also a voice specialist, an associate of the Order of the Holy Cross, a spiritual guide, and retreat facilitator. He is interested in cross-cultural studies and inter-religious dialogue and is a graduate of Shalem's Spiritual Guidance Program.
Steve Patchel – Organist and Choir Director
Mr. Patchel is originally from Kennett Square, PA and has led the music program at Immanuel since 2011. As conductor, he has presented choral music of Bach, Fauré, Vivaldi, Rutter, and Mendelssohn both in liturgy and in concert. As organist, he has performed organ recitals in the U.S. and abroad including Boston’s Trinity Church, Harvard’s Busch Hall Museum, Princeton University Chapel, Saint Thomas Church, New York, Kelvingrove Art Museum, Glasgow, and St. Paul's Cathedral, London.
Steven is also a piano and organ teacher who enjoys guiding musicians of all ages. He received degrees from the Oberlin College Conservatory, and the New England Conservatory, studying organ with David Boe, Garth Peacock, Ray Urwin and William Porter; harpsichord with Lisa Goode Crawford; and choral conducting with Daniel Moe and Donald Teeters. Having studied graphic design at the Massachusetts College of Art, he has also done work in marketing and graphic design. He is pleased to continue the tradition of excellent music at Immanuel in his roles as organist, teacher, and choral director.
