Friendship House

Friendship House is a non-profit Christian organization committed to making a difference in the lives of the homeless people of New Castle County through the traditional spiritual ministries of hospitality, education, empowerment and community.

Saints Andrew and Matthew Sunday Breakfast

Immanuel Church serves 6 Sunday breakfasts a year to 200 homeless people

·        Help prepare (1 hour Sat.) and serve breakfast on Sunday (6 Sundays a year)

 

Friendship House Andrew's Place

Immanuel Church serves dinner on the first Saturday of the month to 25 homeless men living at Andrews’ Place during the fall and winter.

·        Help prepare and serve dinner on a Saturday and eat with the residents

·        Prepare desserts for the dinner

 

Friendship House Men’s and Women’s Day Centers

Immanuel Church collects socks, work gloves, mittens, hats, and towels in the fall for distribution to homeless men and women

 

Friendship House Clothing Bank of Delaware

·        Help pick up and deliver clothing orders for the Clothing Bank

 

Friendship House Residences for women and families

·        Read to the children, individually or with your kids

·        Take a resident on a shopping trip with your family

·        Drive residents to medical appointments.

 

Emmanuel Dining Room                   

At Emmanuel Dining Room, Immanuel Church serves lunch to 300 homeless men, women and children once a month.

·        Assist in preparation and serving of meals

·        Make cupcakes for Emmanuel Dining Room lunches

 

F.A.I.T.H. Center

            FAITH Center is supported by 15 Wilmington faith based organizations to serve people in need with consultations, referrals, and financial assistance.   FAITH Center assists with rent, utilities, insurance, and special needs, helping people to avoid homelessness and unemployment.  Volunteers are trained to help counsel clients in crisis.

·        Help connect people with appropriate community resources and financial aid.

 

Seamen’s Center of Wilmington

The Seamen’s Center aids sailors who ships come to the Port of Wilmington and who are far from home for up to nine months at a time.  Immanuel Church participates in Christmas at Sea for the sailors

·        Donate Christmas ditty boxes to Sailors at the Port throughout December.

·        Donate / repair used bikes for sailors to use to get around the Port

           

Habitat for Humanity -  Unity Build

            Habitat for Humanity strives to empower individuals and communities through safe, affordable housing in partnership with families, communities, faith organizations, and businesses.

·        Participate in a “Build Day”

·        Make lunches to bring to workers

 

AIDS Delaware

            AIDS Delaware works to prevent and treat HIV/AIDS victims in Delaware

·        Join Immanuel Church and thousands of others in the annual fall AIDS Delaware Walk
