            SEARCH — QUICK UPDATE

The Search Team held it's first meeting of the New Year on Tuesday, having taken a holiday break. This is our current status, as of the end of our January 8th meeting:

·        We have been working on finalizing the editorial process of the updated profile to submit for printing within the next week.

·        The Search Team Chairs have been in communication with the Diocese as to where our progress is at this point.

·        We expect the Standing Committee to give us names of candidates who match our profile criteria by March and should be able to start interviewing in April.

·        We have scheduled weekly meetings and will be working closely with our consultants to prepare ourselves for interviewing and discernment.

Please keep us in your prayers.

So many thanks to all of our Sunday School youth who, through pictures and personal accounts have shared some of themselves and their lives with the students at You Ai (‘Have love” or “Have affection”) Primary School.  It’s a marvelous connection, an introduction to real friends on the other side of the earth.

On the building front, the news is exciting.  With the most generous help of parishioners, – thanks again to each of you – friends and family, Phase II of the construction, the kitchen and dormitory has actually begun!  Please contact me if you would like to see more pictures, have question or are thinking of a trip.  To date, six people have visited and enjoyed the experience greatly.

More news and pictures when I return in May!

Are you available?  We don't have hosts for coffee hour, Sunday, January 20; any volunteers?  If you can help with this one week, please contact me or write your name(s) on the bulletin board schedule.  Thank you.

What can I do?  This is a natural response to the question of homelessness, but sometimes the answer can be as simple as contributing toilet paper.  By giving Friendship House enough toilet paper for a month, we help cut their operating costs significantly, and that makes other resources go farther.  Friendship House uses 400 rolls of toilet paper each month in the day ministries alone.  Let's try to meet one month's need!  Bring in any brand of toilet paper during January, and you will be helping to address the needs of homeless people in Wilmington.  Many thanks.

Article from The Net - A Weekly Newsletter For Delaware's Episcopal Clergy

This year Martin Luther King Day is January 21st.  Because this event has now become a civic holiday, it is easy to lose sight of the fact that Martin Luther King’s life and work were built upon the rock of faith in Jesus Christ.  The annual celebration is an appropriate occasion for all of us to give thanks for the presence of Christ in Dr. King’s life and ministry.  It is an opportunity for each of us to re-dedicate ourselves to challenge racism and bias everywhere.
